Therapies Available to Help You Recover
After your initial hospital stay to treat your brain injuries, you may need further treatment, therapy and rehabilitation. There a variety of therapies that can help in your recovery, including:
- Physical therapy
- Occupational or vocational therapy
- Speech therapy
These therapies may be possible on an outpatient basis. In other serious cases, it may be necessary to prolong inpatient treatment with focused rehabilitation. Some of these services may be available at hospitals and medical facilities in Indiana or it may be beneficial to seek treatment out of the state. Our lawyers assist clients nationwide with brain injury litigation, issues and treatment.
How Can I Afford Therapy and Treatment?
There are various funding mechanisms that may help you pay for this treatment, including:
- Medicaid
- Medicare
- Health insurance
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI) waiver
Some clients may not qualify for certain services and may need to be discharged to a nursing home or care facility. Indiana has enacted recent legislation to help people with TBI receive therapy and other medical services so they can get back to work. Once treatment is completed, the Brain Injury Association of Indiana has 19 support groups to help survivors and family members deal with the emotional, social and physical needs of those who have sustained a traumatic brain injury.
